Since 1975, the Cardiac Rehabilitation Program at St. John Siegfried Health Club has helped thousands of individuals recover from heart problems and resume active lives. Early outpatient cardiac rehab is a program designed for persons who have undergone angioplasty, bypass surgery, valve replacement or those recuperating from a heart attack. No one is too old or too young for the St. John cardiac rehab program.
Cardiac rehab patients follow individualized plans by the program's dedicated registered nurses and exercise physiologists. Prescriptions vary according to patients' medical histories and preferences but may include supervised exercise (such as walking, cycling and other aerobic activities), nutrition counseling, healthcare education, patient and family counseling, smoking cessation classes and weight management education. A physician referral is required. The 4 to 12 week program is covered by Medicare and most private insurers.
St. John Siegfried Health Club also offers pulmonary rehabilitation for persons suffering from emphysema, bronchitis, asthma and other disorders related to lung disease. The program includes exercise and education components. Participants learn proper breathing techniques, how to avoid breathing difficulty, stress reduction techniques, medication guidelines and more. A physician referral is required. The 8 to 10 week program is covered by Medicare and most private insurers.
After successfully completing cardiac or pulmonary rehabilitation, individuals may choose to continue their exercise regimen at St. John.
